- He abruptly entered the Earth’s atmosphere at 08:00 on Wednesday
- Caused by a rock from an asteroid
As if it were a space video this morning, a rock from an asteroid has entered the atmosphere at 08:00 hours. What has caused a brilliant fireball to be generated that has been seen from different points of Seville and Cádiz , as reported by the Hispano-German Astronomical Center.
This curious phenomenon originated due to the large rock that entered the atmosphere at about 61,000 kilometers per hour, an enormous speed that made it become incandescent, thus generating a bright fireball at an initial altitude of 61 kilometers above the ground.
Afterwards, this ball moved northward, starting over the province of Cádiz and ending at an altitude of 20 kilometers over the province of Seville . This is reflected in the analysis by astrophysicist José María Madiedo of the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC), a researcher responsible for the Smart Project, dedicated to continuously monitor to record and study the impact against the earth’s atmosphere of rocks from different objects of the solar system.
The first bright fireball
The phenomenon is the first bright fireball detected so far this year throughout the country. And it has been registered with the Smart Project detectors located in the observatories of Calar Alto (Almería), La Sagra (Granada) and Seville. It has also been recorded with one of the cameras of the outdoor surveillance system that operates the Calar Alto Observatory in Almería.
